One thing to keep in mind is that DirecTV Stream does not have deals with the owners of every local station or every regional sports network. If you’re an NCAA sports fan, Choice could be all you need. With Choice, you can get ESPN 1 and 2, ESPNU, the SEC and Big 10 networks. Plus, you have a good chance of getting local TV feeds if you live close to a major city. That’s not a bad deal for $90, especially if you follow an SEC or Big 10 team.
The 8 STARZ movie channels that come with Premier are designed to lure in people who like box office smash hits (STARZ) and horror movies (El Rey, Chiller). However, it only makes sense to invest in Premier if you’re a true movie geek. If you’re the type of person who only watches movies every once in a while, it may make more sense to rent a movie from Google Play or Amazon Video whenever you’re in the mood to see a flick.

According to DirecTV Stream, they have a total of more than 15,000 on-demand titles available to watch online. This is a good thing, since the service doesn’t have any kind of DVR functionality, so you can’t save your own shows.
Finding on-demand content with DirecTV Stream is easy, too. You can simply choose to browse by “Shows,” Movies” or “Networks.” Then, just choose the show movie that you want to watch, and you’ll be able to see which episodes and movies are available on-demand.
DirecTV Stream has both current and past seasons of top TV shows, as well as a selection of movies. It’s easy to browse on-demand content, too, as you can see in the above screenshot.
Mostly, you’ll get recently-aired episodes of top TV shows, without many past seasons being available. However, some shows like Live PD, Archer, and Flip or Flop have multiple past seasons available. It all depends on which network the show is airing on. DirecTV Stream doesn’t own its own content, but simply hosts on-demand content that is made available by its cable partners.
There are also plenty of movies to choose from, including top titles like Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, Run All Night, Pacific Rim, and Django Unchained, just to name a few.
Like most other streaming services, the DirecTV Stream library is subject to changes, though. Content will be pulled by partner networks when syndication rights expire, and recently-aired episodes will be removed after a certain time. Still, there is plenty of content to enjoy on DirecTV Stream.
Yes. You can expect to have a few commercial breaks throughout each episode. However, they are usually pretty short compared to some other streaming services out there, so the experience of viewing content on the DirecTV Stream on-demand library is still pretty good.
You can watch on-demand shows on any app that’s supported by DirecTV Stream. That means you can view the DirecTV Stream on-demand library on your web browser, iOS and Android devices, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Chromecast.
